Vers 1

Mijn ziel is immers stil tot God;
Van Hem wacht ik een heilrijk lot;
Hij immers zal mijn rotssteen wezen,
Mijn heil, mijn hulp in mijn gebrek,
Mijn toevlucht en mijn hoog vertrek:
Ik zal geen grote wank'ling vrezen.

Vers 2

Hoe lang, o wreedaards, zoekt gij dan
Het kwade nog van zulk een man?
Uw kracht is veel te zwak en teder;
Haast sterft gij allen door Gods hand;
Zo stort een ingebogen wand,
Een aangestoten muur terneder.

Vers 3

Zij raadslaan slechts, vervoerd door haat,
Om hem uit zijnen hogen staat
Te stoten met bedrog; en zoeken
Met lust hiertoe een leugenvond;
Zij zeeg'nen wel met hunnen mond,
Maar 't godd'loos hart doet niets dan vloeken.

Trasfondo

Psalm 62, likely authored by David during a time of personal peril, is part of the Psalms of trust that stress reliance on divine refuge over human power. It reflects the ancient Israelite conviction that God is a steadfast rock and savior amid oppression.

Mensaje central

The psalm teaches that genuine hope is found only in God, the unshakable rock and source of salvation, urging believers to be still, trust His help, and reject the deceit and violence of the wicked.

Para hoy

Today we can nurture hope by fixing our confidence on God's unchanging character, especially when anxiety or opposition arise. Practically this means silencing our fears, refusing to lean on wealth or force, and placing total trust in God's protective care.
