Content

Psalms

All 150 psalms in multiple versifications

Read and sing all 150 psalms plus the additional hymns (such as the canticles, Morning Hymn and Evening Hymn). For each psalm you can switch between versifications: Staatsberijming 1773, De Nieuwe Psalmberijming, Klassiek Eigentijdse Psalmberijming, Psalmberijming 1967 and Datheen. Audio is also available for many psalms, so you can sing or listen along.

Follow along with or plan a church service

On the service page you can put together a liturgy or follow along with a service. Handy at home, in church, or when preparing a service: all psalms and forms are right at hand in the correct order.

Bible

Read the Bible by book and chapter

Browse through the whole Bible by book and chapter. Easily navigate to the next or previous chapter and adjust the text size and theme for comfortable reading.

Catechism

The Heidelberg Catechism by Lord's Day

Study the Heidelberg Catechism by Lord's Day or by question and answer. Ideal for catechism classes, personal study, or preparing for public profession of faith.

Liturgical forms by denomination

All liturgical forms — for baptism, the Lord's Supper, profession of faith, marriage, ordination of officebearers and more — organized by denomination (CGK, PKN) and by translation or edition (HSV, SV, NBG, Dienstboek). Many forms are available in multiple versions, such as the classic and the modernized text.

A new psalm every day, with an optional notification

Every day a psalm of the day is ready for you. Want to be reminded? Turn on push notifications in Settings and choose your own time and preferred versification.

Favorites

Save pages for quick access

Tap the star next to a menu item to save it as a favorite. Your favorites and recently visited pages appear at the top of the menu, so you can always reach them quickly.

Reading plan

Structured reading in daily portions

Choose a reading plan and read a defined portion every day. Your progress is tracked, and each day you can open an insight or ask follow-up questions via chat. You can set a daily reminder for this too.

Tools

AI Chat

Ask questions about psalms, the Bible and the catechism

With the AI Chat you can ask questions about the app's content: the meaning of a psalm, background on a Bible passage, or an explanation of the catechism. The chat is a tool — always test its answers against the Bible itself.

Search

Quickly search all content

Use the search function to find psalms, verses and other content. In the menu, you can also use the search field to filter all menu items directly.

Remote control

Control presentation mode from another device

Open presentation mode on one device (for example on a projector or TV) and control it via /afstandsbediening from your phone. First link the devices via Settings → sync.

App & settings

Using offline

Everything available without internet

Turn on "Save offline" in Settings to keep psalms, Bible, catechism, forms and reading plans on your device. You choose per section what stays available offline. Downloading continues in the background while you keep reading.

Sync between devices

Favorites and settings the same everywhere

Link your devices via Settings by generating a code or QR code on one device and scanning or entering it on the other. Your favorites, notes and preferences then stay the same across all your devices — without needing an account.

Theme and text size

Light or dark, large or small

Switch between the light and dark theme and adjust the text size with the buttons on every reading page. Your preferences are remembered.

Install app

iPsalm on your home screen

iPsalm is a Progressive Web App: use the "Install app" button at the bottom of the menu (or your browser's share menu) to add iPsalm to your home screen as an app. It then starts faster and also works offline.

Focus mode

Temporarily hide the menu and distractions

Temporarily hides the menu and other distractions, leaving only the text so you can read or sing calmly.

Screen on

Prevent the screen from locking

Keeps your device's screen on so it doesn't lock automatically while you're reading.

Read aloud

Have the text read aloud

Reads the text on screen aloud — handy while reading, on the go, or for anyone who prefers to listen.

Notes

Make your own notes on a page

Opens the notes field so you can jot down your own notes on a page and read them back later.

Presentation mode

Show the text large on a second screen

Displays the text large and clear on a second screen or beamer, ideal during a service.

Show sheet music

Show the staff notation for psalms

Shows the staff notation for psalms that have sheet music available.

Switch theme

Switch between light and dark theme

Switches between the app's light and dark theme.
