Psalm 111 behoort tot Boek V (Psalm 107–150) van het Psalter. Halleluja-psalm: Begint of eindigt met het Hebreeuwse "Hallelu-Jah" (114, 118 en 136 vallen hier niet onder). Acrostische psalm: Elke strofe begint met een opvolgende letter van het Hebreeuwse alfabet.
